Applications of FPGAs

Electronic: switching amplifiers

We use FPGAs as controllers in power-electronic amplifiers, because FPGAs are a tremendous platform when it comes to implementing algorithms, e.g. for switching amplifiers, switching controllers or piezo controllers. FPGAs can switch to pulse level, and process signals simultaneously. As regards precise switching of fast power transistors, a state machine provides the gate driving. Even for non-linear algorithms, an FPGA is the best controller to have. (more)

Measuring

Typical applications are the inclusion of sensors and transmitters in a measurement system. Interfaces can be designed according to the customers' individual needs. FPGAs guarantee minimal jitter, defined signal periods and fast response times. Supervision routines can be implemented in addition to the measurement functionality. (more)

Interfaces: PCI-Express

With the help of FPGAs, I/O components like ADCs can be linked to the PCI express bus according to the customers needs. The PCI express bus is increasingly replacing the established PCI bus. (more)

Image Processing: FPGA as Companion Chip for Image Sensors

Image Sensores are connected to processors via FPGAs more flexible. (more)
